Scottish Country House – Hybrid Heating Solution
This large country house in Scotland was previously reliant on oil heating, with annual costs reaching approximately £8,000. The owner sought to reduce running costs while minimising exposure to fluctuating oil prices, particularly during peak winter periods.
Global Energy Systems designed and installed a 45kW air source heat pump, integrated with the existing oil boiler to create a bi-valent (hybrid) heating system. This approach allows the heat pump to operate as the primary, low-carbon heat source, with the oil boiler providing additional support during periods of extreme demand or low temperatures.
The system is managed using Global Energy Systems’ proprietary control software, ensuring efficient operation, seamless switching between energy sources, and optimised performance throughout the year.
This solution delivers improved energy efficiency, reduced reliance on oil, and greater cost stability, making it ideally suited to large rural properties with high heating demands.
