Lancashire Manor – Bi-Valent Heating Solution
This large manor property in Lancashire was originally heated by a standalone oil boiler, with domestic hot water provided via a separate immersion heater. Following a recent renovation and increased occupancy, demand for heating and hot water rose significantly, resulting in annual running costs exceeding £4,000.
To improve efficiency and reduce reliance on oil, Global Energy Systems designed and installed a bi-valent heating system, integrating an air source heat pump with the existing oil boiler.
The heat pump now acts as the primary heat source, providing both heating and domestic hot water, effectively eliminating the need for the immersion heater. It is capable of meeting the property’s full demand down to -3.2°C external temperatures. During colder periods or peak demand, the original oil boiler provides additional support, ensuring consistent performance.
The entire system is managed using Global Energy Systems’ proprietary control software, enabling seamless switching between energy sources and optimising efficiency throughout the year.
This solution has significantly reduced oil consumption, improved system performance, and delivered a more cost-effective and sustainable heating approach for a large residential property.
