Grade II Listed Country House – Hybrid Heating Solution
The owner of this large Grade II listed country house approached Global Energy Systems following a recommendation, seeking to reduce the high running costs associated with a fully oil-based heating system.
After a detailed site assessment and system design in line with MCS standards, Global Energy Systems installed three Caernarfon air source heat pumps, integrated with the existing oil boiler to create a bi-valent (hybrid) heating system.
This setup allows the heat pumps to operate as the primary, low-carbon heat source, significantly reducing reliance on oil, while the existing boiler provides additional support during periods of high demand or extreme weather.
The installation is expected to deliver annual savings of £7,139, including income from the non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), which provides payments over a 20-year period.
This project demonstrates how renewable heating solutions can be successfully integrated into heritage properties, improving efficiency and reducing costs while preserving the character of the building.
